Wet weather policy
In the event of rain, and if playing at a Kenmore home ground, it is the responsibility of the manager or the coach or, in the case of senior teams, the captain, to inspect the venue before play. If the ground is not suitable for play then they should:
- First, notify the manager or coach or captain of the opposing team that the game has been cancelled due to rain. The opposing team coach or manager or captain shall then let their team members know that the game has been cancelled. For MSW competitions, contact details of all coaches and managers are circulated to all clubs, coaches and managers at the start of each season.
- Secondly, notify all Kenmore players in your team that the game has been cancelled due to rain.
When considering whether or not the venue is suitable for play, the manager or coach or captain must consider the safety of players above all other matters. Safety first, play second.
If it has been raining heavily all week play should be cancelled before the Saturday. If, however, there is light rain on the Friday night or Saturday morning, the manager or coach or the captain of the home team should inspect the ground by 7am on the Saturday morning and determine if play is not possible. This allows plenty of time to notify the opposing team that the game has been cancelled. If in doubt, teams should meet at the ground where a decision to play or not will be made. Again, remember, Safety first, play second.
